Guyana Diwali Motorcade 2005

With colorful blinking lights and beautifully decorated cars and trucks, the 2005 Maha Sabha Diwali motorcade rolled off from the Mandir in Campbelleville and headed up the East Coast to the LBI center ground for a cultural show and to await the judges decision for the vehicles that took part in the motorcade.  The turnout for the motorcade was truly  amazing  as thousands of Guyanese from all walks of life lined the east coast highway to catch  glimpses of the beautifully decorated floats as they gracefully passed by.

I ended up in the middle of the thousands of lights and glitter after my neighbor requested my help to build the float for the LBI Mandir, we spent 4 days putting together the steel structure that would serve as the guide for the lights and the seating area for our 8 years old "Mother Lakshmi" model who did an amazing job of sitting motionless for the 5 hours duration of the parade.

Our presentation placed 4th in the small vehicles category. Next year we are going to strike them with shock and awe and hopefully put an end to the long reign of the Dedward Village Mandir of Berbice who has been the undisputed champion in the small vehicle category  for many years now.

Enjoy the photos below of just parts of the action that we managed to capture, there was a lot more floats that we did not manage to get shots of, but hopefully the shots below will give you an idea of how beautiful and amazing this Diwali motorcade was. Bryan Mackintosh

Imran Golab,  Cheuing and myself took three days to do all the fabrication needed. Yours truly Bryan max putting together the pieces with just a few hours to go This is how we looked a few hours later, the camera did not do us justice, lol. This is the top of our car with our beautiful "Mother Lakshmi" who held this position for more than 5 hours.  The Mings Products Yamaha 2800 watts generator work flawlessly all night.
Our support team. The top of our float from front view This awesome car from Dedward Berbice won in the small vehicle category A closer look at this awesome display, they really spent a lot of money and man-hours to create this beautiful float We head into the LBI ground for the show and judging
